Art in Churches

In 13th of September 2016 we had a project of our art teacher called Roberto, with the support of "Colégio Agostiniano São José". In this day, we were with our class and, in this project, we have gone on a city tour to visit the most important and historical churches of our city(São José do Rio Preto- SP).
First, we' ve gone to "Paróquia de Nossa Senhora do Sagrado Coração",  a very beautiful and big church with shelters sculptures made of wood and works made by José Antônio da Silva. This church is a harmonious interaction between the modern, the classic and the popular; and, at our opinion this church has a beautiful and with a contemporany  architecture.
Then, we've gone to "Basílica Menor de Nossa Senhora Aparecida" at Boa Vista. It is a church with very detailed paintings, and it is smaller than the first church we've been. This church has been built from 1938 to 1940, and it has 50 meters of length per 20 meters of width and 12 meters of height. It is magnificent construction and it is a very imposing church(because you can see it from a lot of angles of the city and because you can see it from a large distance).
Finally, we've gone to "Igreja Ortodoxa de São Jorge", a small church that was initiated in 1939 to be constructed. The paintings of this church are as detailed as the paintings of the second church and it has a style that remember Byzantine stile with its icons and mosaics.
We loved this tour and we think that this project helped us to know about the beautiful churches that our city has.

My life before paint

I had 8 years old when I definitely started to paint( because I  paint since I was 5, but I started to paint professinaly and with more technique when I was 8). When I had this age, I was passing for a difficult period of my life:so I discovered that I could express all my suffering and feelings with the art.
Before paint, my soul was incomplete. I couldn't indentify myself with no one and I was influenced for the other kids to be someone that I wasn't. I've suffered a lot, I've cried all nights thinking that I wasn't like the other kids because I had interests and dreams that wasn't the same of my friends( or of kids with this age). For an exemple, my peers have wanted to fly or to be an astronaut while I was a realist kid( I've thought their dreams were a silliness); they've wanted to play video games or watch TV while I've wanted to read, write and study; they've wanted to go to Orlando(USA) while I've wanted to go to Europe( to see historical monuments because the history impress me).
The art helped me to be more dreamer and it helped me to be more confident. Stem from art, I dicovered myself and I have uderstood that I was perfect in my own; I dicovered that I wasn't like the others, but it was a good thing because I had got a gift that the other kids hadn't got( it has been comforting for me).Art became my best friend, and my mom, seeing that I had got this talent, put me in a atelier(to improve my gift and to have classes of art).
This classes have been the best hours of my week and, by my teacher called Daniela, I learnt lot of things. By this classes, I improved my paintings ( and, at the same time, I improved my way of being).
Without art, I would be nothing because it has become a part of me. Now, my life is based in be myself,  be happy and be a generous person; and all of this has been possible by art and by my unconditional passion: Paint.

Thank you art to change my life

My life before How To Get Away With Murder

We started to watch How To Get Away With Murder(HTGAWM) this year and we simply felt in love. This series has changed ours lives because we were thinking to study law but we are in doubt at that moment.

The plot of this series is about an  insane woman that is a professor and a criminal lawyer, she seems herself in a crossroads when has to deal with her five students (she has chosen to work with her).

Behind the series we could learn about the routine of a criminal lawyer and we realize that this is what we want to do for our entire lives.

Our Talks

Our Talks is a project elaborated by teacher Viviane, it happens in Colégio Agostiniano São José and it is inspired in a globally known organization called TED (Tecnology,Entertainment, Design). In this event, students can express their feelings and they are free to talk about what they want( like polemic and very discussed sicial issues). The main objective of this project is the dissemination of ideas and I think it is a good opportunity to the students open their mind and talk about issues that they think are important and that can help some person to be happier or more hopeful.
In Our Talks, the students of Colégio São José high school preparate a talk about a issue previously  chosen for them and, in September they present it to a group of other students and the time of the talk presentation is from 10 to 18 minutes.
This year I've been to this project and I loved it. All talks have been interesting and well thought out, and there were some talks that helped me to reflect about issues that I've never thought before. Other upside  of this project is the fact that it contributes to the dissemination of respect and tolerance with regard to the opinion of the others(even you don't agree with the opinion of the person).
I think this project is perfect and I would like to say congratulations to everyone that participated and organized it.If you didn't go to Our Talks this year, you must go there next year.

Painting Description

La Guernica is a painting produced in 1937 by Picasso, one of the most important Spanish painters, and one of creators of the cubism(an artistic style that has arisen in the beginning of the twentieth century). This painting represents the bombing suffered for the Spanish city of Guernica on 26th of April 1937 by Germany planes, supporting the dictator Francisco Franco. Recently, this panel is in Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, in Madrid(Spain).
At my opinion, this is one of the most touching and remarkable paintings I ever seen. The use of  the colors black and white represents the sadness and despair of the inhabitants of this city(it represents the repudiation of Picasso to the bombing too) and, the existence of various components in this paint create a feeling of agitation and a fusion of happenings.
In this paint, there are some Spanish references, like the bull on the left and what more impress me is the fact that this painting seems  beeing in a constant movement(the characters of this paint seem move themselves like a ballet of disasters and acrobatics with frenetic moves).
The sorrow and suffering are shown in this paint, mainly, by the woman that cries and holds her dead son on her arms. This panel has been produced with oil paint and it measures 350 per 782cm. After 79 years of the bombing and the production of this paint we can see that a war is something that affects not only the soldiers or the countries, but the population too.

Film- A Girl Like Her

"A Girl Like Her" is a film about a girl called Jessica Burns that suffers bulling constanty in her school (South Brookdale). Jessica's buller is Avery Keller( the most popular girl of Jessica's school and her former friend, that, for a silliness, get angry with Jassica and become her enemy).
After that, Avery Keller starts to rail and ridicule Jassica in such a way that she doesn't support anymore and she tries to kill herself (she tries a suicide). Before that, her best friend, Brian, tries to help Jessica doing a lot of videos showing the bulling that she suffers.
This film shows us that bulling is a serious thing and, by this film, we can see that NO ONE merit be ridiculed and exposed.I recommend everyone to watch this excellent film and I think all schools must present this film to their students.
DON'T DO BULLING. Remember that it could be you( put yourself in the place of the next).

Testimonial

It was Saturday (05\03) and we were going to Shopping Iguatemi, because it was  Heleísa's birthday. When we arrived at the mall we went to the animal store called Cobasi. In it, we saw some mouses and some rabbits and, then we went to the movies to see 50 Shades Of Black and it was horrible and boring. Inside the cinema we ate pop corn and Fini. We passed cold we felt asleep in the beginning of the film and we went out in the middle of it.
On Monday we went to eat pizza with Heloisa’s parents and it was  so funny but Jose didn´t be quiet! At the time we were going to sing happy birthday, a man dropped a roasting pan and we got scared. But, in the end everything have been alright.

Book Review

Doctor Jekyll and Mr.Hyde is a story of a doctor called Dr.Jakyll, a well-heeled doctor that wanted to create a poition to separate his good part from his bad part, so he got to make this poition and his bad part has been called Mr. Hyde.
This book starts with Mr. Utterson and his friend Mr. Enfield walking around London streets and Enfield has reported a event that he has witnessed when he was going home at a night. He saw a small man walking quickly towards he and he saw a girl in the other side of the road. Suddenly, the small man and the girl has bumped themselves and the small man has stepped on and kicked the girl’s body. Mr. Enfield discovered that the small man called Dr. Hyde and, by the story that Mr. Enfield has reported and a will that Dr. Jekyll give to Mr. Utterson(because, in the story, he is Jekill’s lawyer), Mr. Utterson discovered that Mr. Hyde was Dr Jekill’s  “friend”(but he hasn’t known that they were the same person).
We think this book has got a good story, but the phrases of it are difficult to understand and the characters speak in such long. Even so, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is excellent book and we recommend it.

I give 4 stars to this book.

Frankenstein

Introduction:
Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus is a romance and horror story written by Mary Shelley(a British writer that was born in London)and this is considered the first science fiction work. It tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a student of natural sciences who created a monster in his laboratory. Mary Shelley wrote this story when she was 19 years old, from 1816 to 1817 and it was published in 1818 but recently, the third edition(published in1831) is considered the definitive. When Frankenstein has been published, it has been obtained a lot of sucess and, recently it is considered one of the most important works of the world.
Curiosity of the work Frankenstein:
Mary Shelley affirmed that she inspired herself the name of "Frankenstein" during a dream that she has had. Although she has made public claims about it, the meaning of the name has been a source of speculations.

Introduction

Hello!!!! We are students of Colégio Agostiniano São José(São José do Rio Preto, Brazil) and we called José Alberto,Heloísa and Larissa. We are 14 years old, we live in São José do Rio Preto(Brasil) and we love art.
Recently, the people don't attach importance to art and they "close their eyes" to this important cultur medium. Through the art, we can express what we couldn't express with words, so, we think the art is very important
The people must understand that the art is in everywhere (not only in museums or art galleries), so the name of this blog is"Don't Close Your Eyes To Art", because we want to show all the tips of art(like songs, clips, paintings, street art, theatre plays, films and a lot of other topics envolving art ) and awake the liking for art of all our public.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Based in the book written by Victor Hugo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame  is a story about  a disfigured man called  Quasimodo who was created by one man called  Frollo. Quasimodo's mother was a gypsy and he lives in Notre Dame Cathedral(he is the riger of the cathedral).
In this play, Frollo and Quasimodo fall in love by Esmeralda( a gypsy that has danced in the square in front of the Cathedral with her goat).
In the end Esmeralda died accused of witchcraft by Frollo.

Our rating:

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a very good play and is very interesting. It intretains all ages.

Once Upon A Time

The series is loosely inspired by the classic fairy tale, except that's going on these days, hence the name of the series. The stories contain the key to the mystery involving a woman and her son she gave up for adoption ten years earlier in a town called Storybrooke, Maine in New England. This town is actually a parallel world in which characters from fairy tales look like normal people and they don't remember their true identity or anything about their real life.

Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo was born in 6th of July 1907 in Coyocán, México. Her parents called Guillermo Kahlo and Matilde Gonzaga y Calderón.

In 1913, with six years old, Frida contracted poliomyelitis, the first of a series of diseases, accidents and a lot of sorrows. The poliomyelitis caused a injury in her right foot and the other people have made fun of her, so Frida started to use long skirt and dresses.

When she was 18 years old, she had a grave accident while she was going to her house. The tram that she was,  has collided with  a train and she has seriosly injured. She  married with 22 years old with Diego Rivera(one of the most important panel painters).

Frida Kahlo did a lot of paints while she was alive and she was one of the most important painters of the world. The best of her paints, in our opinion is that they(the paints that she did) tell her life and her fellings during her life stages.

This is one of the most important paints of Frida:

"Minha Mãe é uma Peça" is a Brazilian film. This is a story of one mother, her children(Juliano, Marcelina and Garib), her former husband(Carlos Alberto) and the actual wife of her former husband(Soraia).
